PUNIT LALBHAI
Legacy of excellence
The Lalbhai family are one of those iconic business families from Ahmedabad that have contributed immensely to the Indian economy. Kasturbhai Lalbhai started Arvind Mills and the past three generations have made it one of the key pillars of Indian textile industry. Punit is in his mid 20s and will be the fourth generation to join this family legacy. He has a degree from Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies and he’s always open to the idea of learning. And he has an experienced trainer – his father Sanjay Lalbhai. With such a background he should definitely become the pillars of Arvind Mills and hence contribute to the Indian textile industry.
With an edge of having its own manufacturing plant and his learning from the family, Punit will not only exceed the quantum of production but with global exposure, will add value to the quality of outputs. He’s the gentleman who’s modern but knows how to take his family legacy ahead, and with these qualities, he will make Arvind Mills a forever profit making company.

LULA DA SILVA
‘Bric’s of cooperation
As a stalwart in international politics, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the Brazilian President, fondly called Lula, has always given priority to social issues. Surprisingly this man who talks on varied issues ailing the society at large has never received any formal education, but is the undisputed leader of masses. He lives by the vision of BRIC economy. Hew has signed many MoUs on culture, health, social issues, higher education, tax administration and wind resources with India. He believes that both Brazil and India share a common platform or vision to alleviate poverty, illiteracy and unemployment. The Indo-Brazil trade relation has gained newer heights under his leadership. Trade between two countries is expected to cross $15 billion by 2010. His vision widens the scope to enlarge bilateral exchanges & reciprocal investments between India and Brazil and leaves vast potential for integration of production systems. As the direction is set, the two countries can now explore more fruitful ties in the years to come.
